New Zealand registers convincing win over Kenya
Hamish Bennett (4-16), Jacob Oram (3-2) and Tim Southee (3-13) bowled brilliant spells to help New Zealand register a convincing 10-wicket win over Kenya on Sunday in a Group A match at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
New Zealand bowled out Kenya for 69 in 23.5 overs and ran home easy victors in 8 overs to finish at 72 for no loss.
Kenya opted to bat and lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Seren Waters (16), Collins Obuya (14) and Morris Ouma (16 not out) entered double figures. The other top-scorer in the innings were the 10 extras.
Bennett, Oram and Southee bowled accurately as Kenya batting line-up struggled.
In its chase, Martin Guptill (39 not out) and Brendon McCullum (26 not out) overhauled the target with ease.
