New Delhi: In the battle of minnows, Kenyan got off to a worse possible start when Henry Osinde got rid of openers and then picked up David Obuya in quick succession.
Earlier Jimmy Kamande won the toss and elected to bat in their Group A match against Canada at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi on Monday.
Kenya made two changes in their eleven. Thomas Odoya was in for Peter Ongondo, while James Ngoche was included in place of his brother Shem.
Canada also fielded an extra spinner, Parth Desai, along with legspinner Balaji Rao.
Both the ICC's Associate nations have lost all of their matches so far in the tournament. Kenya went down to New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, while Canada were hammered by Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe before they came close to surprising Pakistan but eventually losing that match as well.
Canada are aware that they have the best chance to win a match in the World Cup against Kenya and skipper Ashish Bagai had indicated that Canada would look to play an extra spinner and might even open the innings with a pace-spin attack in Monday's game.
"Looking at the last two games here, it is the spinners who have dominated. We have bowlers who have dominated not only against England, Zimbabwe but also against Pakistan. So spin would be the key on Monday," Bagai had said on Sunday.
On the other hand, Kenya captain Jimmy Kamande is aware the next three games could be the last chance for the country to prove it's worth at the World Cup.
With the ICC set to reduce the tournament from 14 to 10 teams in 2015, probably at the expense of second-tier teams such as Kenya, Kamande says his squad wants to prove themselves in their remaining fixtures at this event.
