Zimbabwe spinners script easy win over Canada
Zimbabwe beat Canada by an impressive 175 run margin in a Group B match at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur on Monday.
Batting first Zimbabwe posted 298 for 9 from its 50 overs. In its reply, Canada was bowled out for 123 for 42.1 overs as Zimbabwe ran home easy winners.
Zimbabwe lost early wickets. Later Tatendra Taibu (98: 99b, 9x4) and Craig Ervine revived the innings with a 181-run third wicket in 28 overs.
A middle-order collapse followed thereafter. But Sean Williams (30), Prosper Utseya (22) and Graeme Cremer (26) propelled Zimbabwe to a challenging target.
For Canada, Khurram Chohan (2-44), Harvir Baidwan (2-47) and Balaji Rao (4-57) were the best bowlers on view.
In the chase, Canada lost wickets at regular intervals as Ray Price (3-16), Prosper Utseya (2-24), Greg Lamb (2-29), Graeme Cremer (3-31) shared the wickets around.
