Goodbye to the Greats

Some of them mesmerized you in the recently concluded World Cup. For a few of them, the mega-event was a disaster. MSN India brings to you a gallery of great players who will not grace the next edition of the Cricket World Cup in Australia in 2015. The list includes names like Kallis, Ponting, and Akhtar. There is also a certain Sachin Tendulkar. If you think the Little Master can carry on till the next World Cup and that we are wrong in including him in our list, sign into the feedback section below to express your views.
1.Ricky Ponting - Australia
Australia's quarterfinal exit was relished by many. But for a moment if you keep India's victory aside, a tale dipped in valour and grief emerges in the form of Ricky Ponting. The former Australian captain was more consistent with on and off field controversies than with the bat. Though, when the stakes were high, Ponting raised his game and produced a classy innings in the must-win clash against India.

Why we will miss him
For his ability to lift his performance in the most trying circumstances. For the way he bossed bowling attacks. Because no Indian can forget 2003 World Cup final. For that swivelling pull shot.

2. Sachin Tendulkar - India

Bagful of runs came with ease, grace and artistry. And finally, after scoring a deluge of runs in most editions of the World Cup he has participated in, the victory moment arrived. Tears were shed, hugs were exchanged as the Tendulkar draped in the tri-colour lived what he later called the 'proudest moment' of his life.

Why we will miss him
A million reasons. Do we need to say anything more?

Best World Cup moment
It came after playing in five World Cups. In Mumbai Sachin and India founding cricketing nirvana and a piece of silverware which went missing for 28 years.
